Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne collide in Tallaght

We have a full round of SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division games to tuck into on this Easter Bank Holiday Monday.

St Patrick's Athletic bounce into their clash at Dundalk as table-toppers, but they'll be braced for a really tricky test against Ciarán Kilduff's in-form Lilywhites, who scalped Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Friday.

Shamrock Rovers will aim to deepen Shels' frustrations when the sides collide in Tallaght, while Bohs - held to a scoreless draw at Drogheda United last time out - face Waterford at Dalymount, the Blues buoyed by their 1-1 draw against the Hoops at the RSC.

At Sullivan & Lambe Park, the Drogs welcome Galway United who turned over Derry City 2-1 three days ago. The Candystripes are in desperate need of a win as they travel to a struggling Sligo Rovers, who are second bottom following their 4-1 loss at Pat's.

LOI table

Bohemians v Waterford, Dalymount Park, 5pm

Bohs got out of Drogheda with a decent draw that preserved their unbeaten status after nine games. Victory this evening would represent a very healthy return of six victories and four draws. They'll be expected to take care of the visitors, but Waterford showed they are capable of making it an awkward evening when they doggedly held Shamrock Rovers on Friday.

Jon Daly badly needed a good performance against the Hoops. Padraig Amond's finish from close range put them ahead, with the reigning champions requiring an 80th-minute Graham Burke penalty to earn a point. The Blues are still bottom, but that lifted morale. If they can get anything out of this meeting it would be another significant boost.

Team news

Bohemians: No major concens for Alan Reynolds who will be in the stands again as he serves a three-game ban after a clash with Shelbourne staff ahead the recent derby at Tolka Park.

Waterford: No fresh injury concerns for Daly. Cian Barrett is available again having missed the game against Samrock Rovers due to his loan agreement.

Drogheda United v Galway United, Sullivan & Lambe Park, 5pm

Drogheda's typically gritty showing against Bohs was overshadowed by Shane Farrell's nasty head injury, sustained following a coming togther with Senan Mullen. Farrell collapsed with no one around him a few minutes after the incicdent, but thankfully has since been released from hospital and is on the mend.

He misses the visit of Galway, with boss Kevin Doherty also without Scott Brady and Owen Lambe.

Frantz Pierrot fired home the winner for Galway against Derry and is set for a reunion with Drogheda, with whom he won the FAI Cup in 2024. John Caulfield will hope his impact off the bench was a sign of things to come with the sixth-placed westerners attempting to pull further away from the bottom two. They're one point ahead of the Drogs coming into this one.

Team news

Drogheda United: Shane Farrell (head), Scott Brady and Owen Lambe (ACL) are unavailable.

Galway United: David Hurley (hamstring) is a doubt.

If St Pat's are serious about challenging for the title this year, this is the sort of examination they must pass.

Dundalk have made an excellent start to life back in the top flight, sitting in fourth place thanks to three wins, five draws and just one defeat. They're clearly a tough nut to crack, and will fancy having a go at Stephen Kenny's talented side.

The Lilywhites' sole loss came against the Saints in Inchicore back in February. Kilduff has admitted he's keen to atone for so a Pat's side that's scored 11 times in their last five games will have to earn the right to play at Oriel.

Team News

Dundalk: Aodh Dervin returns from suspension but Leo Gaxha, Rob Cornwall and Vinnie Leonard are still out, as are longer term absentes Luke Mulligan and Norman Garbett.

Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne, Tallaght Stadium, 5pm

Shamrock Rovers are keeping up their tradition of coming out of the blocks relatively slowly, though Stephen Bradley will expect a big performance from his reigning champions when Shels come to Tallaght.

This is a fascinating showdown. Bradley was actually quite happy with how his team played against Waterford at the RSC, despite dropping two points. He just wants his attackers to be more ruthless.

Meanwhile Shels' form has been curious - their three league wins to date have all come away from home. Joey O'Brien was seething after the defeat to Dundalk at Tolka, labelling it their "worst performance of the season". They'll travel with a point to prove, which should make a for a spicy affair.

Team news

Shamrock Rovers: Connor Malley is being assessed after picking up a knock against Waterford. Adam Brennan. Bradley is also being cautious with teenager Adam Brennan, who is being monitored in training.

Sligo Rovers v Derry City, The Showgrounds, 5pm

The Bit O'Red are hunting a first win in five games and there'll be no shortage of motivation in the home dressing room as they seek some revenge.

John Russell's men suffered a painful loss on the opening night at the Ryan McBride Brandywell, Josh Thomas' stoppage-time effort denying them a point.

Sligo were very poor in Inchicore last Friday. Confidence is low and injuries continue to mount.

Their supporters might cling to Derry's wobbly form in search for pre-match optimism. Tiernan Lynch brought in a number of high-profile signings over the winter but they simply haven't gelled. He's under pressure, and another slip-up in the northwest would further turn up the heat.

Team news

Sligo Rovers: Jad Hakiki, Ryan O'Kane, Conor Reynolds, Sean Stewart and Shane Blaney and Cian Kavanagh miss out while Ciaron Harkin is a doubt.

Derry City: Michael Duffy (quad) could be out for up to a month. James McClean (hip) is also unavailable.
