Former Republic of Ireland defender Kevin Long has signed for Waterford.
Jon Daly's side are bottom of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division table with just two points from their first six games, but they'll hope 35-year-old Long will help to steady the ship.
Long joined Toronto at the start of 2024, and has been a free agent since the 2025 MLS season ended last October.
He started his career with his hometown club Cork City, earning a move to Burnley in November 2009 on a three-and-a-half year deal. In 2015 he made his Premier League debut under Sean Dyche, coming on as a first-half substitute away to Newcastle United in a 3-3 draw.
He was called up to the Republic of Ireland squad in 2017, making his senior debut against Mexico in an friendly in New Jersey. Long earned 16 further caps for his country, scoring once in 2019 against Bulgaria in a 3-1 win at Aviva Stadium.
"I'm excited to be here and looking forward to getting going," he told the club website.
"I’ve been away from Ireland for a long time so it feels good to be home. Hopefully I can bring my experience to this club and we can start climbing up the table".
Blues boss Daly is delighted to get his man, adding: "I’m absolutely delighted to bring Kevin to Waterford. He has fantastic experience at the highest levels of the game and brings real leadership, quality and professionalism to the squad.
"Kevin is a player who will set standards every day, and I’m confident his presence will make a huge impact both on and off the pitch for this group."
