Dick Advocaat has stood down as manager of Curacao ahead of the World Cup in order to focus on his daughter's health issues.
The 78-year-old secured qualification for the Caribbean nation for their first finals last year but will not lead the team in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with his compatriot Fred Rutten appointed as his successor.
The former Dutch colony will be the smallest nation ever to compete at the finals when they kick off against Germany on June 14 in Houston.
"I have always said that family comes before football," said Advocaat. "This is therefore a natural decision. That said, I will miss Curacao, its people and my colleagues. I consider qualifying the smallest nation in the world for the World Cup one of the highlights of my career."
Advocaat, who previously managed his native Netherlands as well as South Korea, Rangers and Sunderland in a coaching career spanning more than 45 years, was appointed by Curacao in 2024.
