St Patrick's Athletic have signed James Brown from Scottish Premiership outfit Kilmarnock.
The 27-year-old defender joins on what the club have called a "long-term contract" after six months with Killie, having played last season with Ross County.
He played 42 times for Shelbourne when they were in the First Division at the end of the last decade before moving to Drogheda United, where he played a further 83 times as Drogs gained promotion to the top flight.
He would be named in the PFAI Premier Division Team of the Season in 2021, playing 34 times that season before moving on.
"I've been in contact with Stephen (Kenny) on and off for a year now, so I'm really happy that it got done," Brown said.
"I made decisions to stay in the UK but I feel like now is the right time. I feel like it's a really exciting time for the club to try to get them back to where they belong.
"The league took off since I left so I know the standards are very high now. It's a familiar league, familiar grounds, I'm really excited to get back."
Brown's career in England brought him to Blackburn Rovers, Stockport and Doncaster before venturing north to Scotland.
He played 16 games for Kilmarnock before picking up an injury which ruled him out the last nine games for the club.
Pat's have also announced that they have sent 20-year-old defender Sean McHale on loan to Sligo Rovers for the remainder of the season.
Pat's season is yet to get going after they failed to qualify for Europe at the end of the 2025 season. Stephen Kenny's side are yet to score a goal in their two games, drawing 0-0 with Bohemians before losing to Shamrock Rovers on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Bohemians have announced the signing of winger Zane Myers.
The 20-year-old joins on a permanent transfer from Hull City having enjoyed a loan spell with Scarborough at the end of 2025.
Welcoming Myers to Dalymount Park, Bohs manager Alan Reynolds said: "We're delighted to get Zane in. He is an out-and-out winger who can play on either side.
"He’s left-footed, he’s really quick and I feel he will really add to the group when he settles in.
"He’s a player who likes to dribble past players and is good in one-v-ones. We feel he will add something very different - a leftie who’s really quick - to what we have in the group here already, and we are really looking forward to getting to work with him."
Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers have added Luke O'Regan as he joins from UCD.
O'Regan will play on loan with UCD for this first half of the season, but will participate in training sessions with the Hoops alongside UCD, according to a Rovers statement.
