Shamrock Rovers have signed former Waterford FC defender Tunmise Sobowale on loan from St Mirren ahead of the transfer deadline.
The 26-year-old will be introduced to Hoops fans at Tallaght Stadium ahead of their derby clash with St Patrick's Athletic this evening.
The Waterford native made his debut for his hometown club in 2016, joining Finn Harps in 2018, ahead of a return to Waterford in 2020. He had a loan spell with Athlone Town before signing for Shrewsbury Town in 2023 and a season later transferring to Swindon Town.
Sobowale has made eight appearances for St Mirren since making the switch to the Scottish Premiership during the summer.
Stephen Bradley is excited by the defender's versatility and his League of Ireland experience.
"It was definitely a factor that he has played in the league, he knows the league inside out and that’s really important," said Bradley.
"He can play anywhere across the back three, or either of the wing-back roles. He suits us really well and has a really good age profile.
"Stephen McPhail tried to sign him previously before he went to England. We were close, but it didn’t quite happen. But thankfully this time it has happened with Ronan working extremely hard to get it done."
