Dundalk have moved to strengthen their back line with the signing of Tyreke Wilson from Shelbourne.

The 26-year-old defender makes the move to Oriel Park looking to kickstart his career after a turbulent 2025 season which was marred by injuries.

Wilson has been a mainstay in the Shelbourne first team since joining them from Bohemians in 2023 and was a key part of their title winning side under Damien Duff in 2024.

However a serious leg injury suffered in Shelbourne's Champions League match qualifier against Qarabag saw him sidelined for much of last season and kept him out of action until the back end of the campaign.

Wilson has made 147 top flight appearances, scoring seven league goals across spells with Waterford, Bohemians and Shels.

Shelbourne confirmed his exit in a statement which read; "Shelbourne FC can confirm Tyreke Wilson has completed a permanent move to Dundalk FC.

Tyreke gave everything for the shirt during his time at Tolka Park, making 91 appearances and winning the League of Ireland in 2024.

"We thank him for his commitment and wish him well in the next chapter."

Wilson could go straight into the Dundalk squad as they prepare to get their league campaign underway against Derry City on Friday night, after their opening league clash with Shamrock Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch in Tallaght last week.

Meanwhile, Bohemians winger Rhys Brennan has joined Cobh Ramblers on loan until the end of the season.

Brennan, now 19, made his league debut for Bohs as a second-half substitute against Waterford in the penultimate game of the 2024 campaign.

But his big break came last season when he proved the hero in Gypsies' memorable comeback away to Shamrock Rovers when he netted a 97th-minute winner in a 3-2 derby victory.

He went on to be involved in 20 games in all competitions last season.

Bohs manager Alan Reynolds said: "Rhys is a player we rate very highly and we believe this move is the next big step in his development."
