Brentford manager Keith Andrews is happy for his team to remain "unpredictable" after a strong first half of the campaign.

The eighth-placed Bees' travel to Aston Villa on Sunday eager to arrest a mini slump of back-to-back defeats and remain in the top half of the Premier League.

Former Republic of Ireland international and assistant manager Andrews, who filled the void left by Thomas Frank by earning promotion from his role as set-piece coach, has led the Bees to 10 victories and defeats in his maiden Premier League campaign, with no side posting fewer draws (3) than the west London club.

The Bees have already got the better of Villa twice this season, with a 4-2-3-1 used in a league victory in August before Carabao Cup success a month later achieved with a 3-5-2 system.

"I think performance levels overall have got consistently to a good point, but we always want more," Andrews said ahead of the game.

"That is the reality of the industry we’re in and the way we operate, so we want to keep pushing, keep striving and keep trying to improve everything we do on a day-to-day and weekly basis and see where that brings us.

"We’ve had some really good results and played in different ways, with different systems. We like to be slightly unpredictable and not make it easy for the opposition and hopefully that’s the case on Sunday."

Andrews was equally coy about the availability of Kristoffer Ajer and Mikkel Damsgaard after they were forced off in the 2-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest, but they have not sustained "serious" injuries.

"That was the main reason I didn’t sleep so well on Sunday night, those two coming off and in the way they did. It was concerning. Thankfully, they’re both pretty good, really," Andrews added.

"It’s nothing serious. Whether they’ll be available for the weekend or not, I’m not entirely sure on both of them. If they’re not, they won’t be far off."
