European wrap: Evan Ferguson unused as Roma draw with Milan

Evan Ferguson was an unused substitute as AS Roma drew 1-1 with second-placed AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland striker played all 90 minutes of Thursday's 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the Europa League in what was his first game back from a short-term injury.

However, three days on and Gian Piero Gasperini did not call upon him in the league. Loan signing Donyell Malen led the line with Pablo Dybala in support.

The game itself saw Koni De Winter open the scoring for Milan in the 62nd minute but a 74th-minute penalty from Lorenzo Pellegrini ensured a share of the spoils.

Napoli suffered a major blow in their Serie A title defence as they were thumped 3-0 by Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Jonathan David fired the hosts in front in the first half and further efforts from Kenan Yildiz and Filip Kostic secured their emphatic win.

The result marked Napoli's first loss in 10 games in all competitions, and leaves them trailing current leaders Inter Milan by nine points.

Genoa stormed back from two goals behind to sink 10-man Bologna 3-2 and move further clear of the relegation zone.

Lewis Ferguson and a Sebastian Otoa own goal had given the visitors a two-goal cushion but the game turned after Lukas Skorupski was red-carded in the 56th minute.

Ruslan Malinovskiy reduced the deficit five minutes later and Caleb Ekuban levelled before Junior Messias fired an injury time winner for the home side.

Elsewhere, Sassuolo edged Cremonese 1-0 while Atalanta earned their third straight league win after thrashing Parma 4-0.

Barcelona returned to the top of LaLiga after brushing aside bottom club Oviedo 3-0 at the Nou Camp.

Hansi Flick's men were frustrated until the 52nd minute when Dani Olmo opened the scoring before further goals from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal saw Barca leapfrog Real Madrid to sit in first place again.

Goals from Alexander Sorloth, Thiago Almada and an own goal saw Atletico Madrid cruise to a 3-0 home win over Mallorca.

Their win consolidated third place in the table for Diego Simeone’s side but they still trail second-placed city rivals Real by seven points.

Also in LaLiga, two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal helped Real Sociedad to a 3-1 win over Celta Vigo despite the dismissal of Duje Caleta-Car in first-half stoppage time, while Alaves eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 win over Real Betis.

In Ligue 1, Real Madrid loanee Endrick scored a hat-trick as Lyon wrapped up their eighth straight win in all competitions by winning 5-2 at bottom club Metz.

Julio Enciso scored twice as Strasbourg stormed to a 4-1 win at Lille with Ireland defender Andrew Omobamidele unused by the visitors, Nice cruised to a 4-1 win at struggling Nantes, Toulouse won 2-0 at Brest, and Paris FC were held to a goalless draw at home by Angers.

Stuttgart moved up to fourth in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach, while Freiburg edged home 2-1 against Koln.
