Shelbourne have moved to strengthen their defence ahead of the start of the new League of Ireland Premier Division campaign by signing Cliftonville defender Odhrán Casey.
The Northern Ireland U21 international becomes Joey O'Brien's fifth signing of the off season and joins Shels for a reported fee of £100,000 which could rise further with add-ons.
A graduate of the Cliftonville academy, Casey has made over 143 senior appearances for the Irish League club, scoring eight goals, and has been named Player of the Month three times this season.
The move comes just days after Shels agreed a deal to sell defender Lewis Temple to English club Bolton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.
Commenting on his move, Casey said: "I've loved my time at Cliftonville and would like to thank all the managers and coaches who have helped me become the player I am today.
"I’ve always been proud to play for the Reds and have great memories from the last seven years with the first team as well as during my time coming through the academy.
"Every young player grows up dreaming of being a full-time footballer and I’m no different. The chance to join Shelbourne and make that dream come true is one I couldn’t turn down and that’s why I was so keen to get the deal done and make the move.
"I've heard this is a great club with a brilliant fanbase. Their ambitions were a real draw for me to come here. I’m looking forward to getting in with the lads and playing in front of the fans at Tolka Park."
Shelbourne head coach O'Brien added: "We’re delighted to welcome Odhrán to the club and are very excited to begin working with him.
"He is a very experienced player for his age, having already played a huge number of senior games.
"We believe he has great potential for further development, and we’re very pleased that he has chosen to come to Shelbourne FC."
