Bohemians have appointed Alan Murphy as manager of their women's team following the departure of Alban Hysa.

Murphy, a former Shelbourne and Dundalk midfielder, has served the club as assistant manager for the past two seasons, first to Ken Kiernan in 2024 and to Hysa in 2025.

He was part of the backroom team that guided Bohs to two national cup finals last season.

Hysa resigned from his position earlier this week.

Murphy said: "I am really excited. It's been a hectic week, and we have plenty of work to get stuck into. I'm really looking forward to the season getting started now.

"I spoke to Pat Fenlon during the week. I've obviously been around the club now for a couple of years under a couple of different managers.

"This is one of the biggest clubs in Ireland. There is great pressure at this club but I know the girls here very well so it is a challenge that I am really excited to jump into.

"The challenge for us now as a group is to be consistent. We have shown that we are a good team and that we have some really good quality, but the challenge is consistency and I am hoping that I can be the link that delivers that consistency.

"This will be my third year at the club working with the girls, I know how this place works and I know how the girls operate.

"I have loved being assistant manager here. Knowing the group will make the jump easier, so I can't wait to get stuck in and start the hard work."
