Ongoing Oriel Park works mean Derry fixture reversal

Oriel Park
Dundalk's first home game back in the top flight is set to be the Louth derby meeting against Drogheda Utd on Friday, 20 February

The League of Ireland has agreed to a fixture reversal between Dundalk and Derry City due to ongoing works at Oriel Park.

The First Division champions were due to host Derry in round two of the new season on Friday, 13 February and to travel to The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium in round 11 of the season on Friday, 20 April.

With work continuing to complete the new artificial pitch and the upgrading of the floodlights, Dundalk’s request to have these fixtures reversed has been granted.

Both games are 7.45pm kick-off times.

Unless there are any further delays, Dundalk’s first home game back in the top flight will be the Louth derby meeting against Drogheda United on Friday, 20 February.

The Lilywhites begin the season with a trip to champions Shamrock Rovers on Friday, 6 February, while on the same night, Derry open the campaign by welcoming Sligo Rovers to the Brandywell.

The Candystripes will now play their first four league game at home due to the switch.
