Lewis Temple: 'It's like a dream as a young player'

Shelbourne defender Lewis Temple has completed a move to League One side Bolton Wanderers.

Temple, 20, joins for an undisclosed fee, penning a contract until June 2028 with the potential option of a further 12 months.

His last game for the Reds came in December's Conference League clash against NK Celje.

Temple began his career at his hometown club Bray Wanderers before progressing through the youth ranks at Shels, following in the footsteps of Shelbourne boss Joey O'Brien who spent seven years as a player at Bolton.

"I've actually had a couple of conversations with him (O’Brien) about it," said Temple.

"Obviously, he was at Bolton for years, since he was young. It's great to have the likes of (ex-Shels manager) Damien Duff and Joey O'Brien, who have seen it all.

"They've played in the Premier League, they've had great careers themselves, and to have them here (at Shelbourne) for the last three or four years, I've been like a sponge around them, just trying to absorb anything I can off them.

"I think, especially when you're over in Ireland as a young player, all you look at is wanting to go and play over in England. It's what you watch on the telly. It's like a dream as a young player and to get here now to play for Bolton, such a big club, I'm excited."

Jordan Faria #72 of Toronto FC II dribbles down the wing
Former Toronto player Jordan Faria has moved to Waterford

Waterford have signed Canadian midfielder Jordan Faria ahead of the 2026 campaign.

The 25-year-old makes the move to the RSC for 2026 with over 140 senior appearances to his name across the USL in America and the Canadian Premier League. The USL is the second tier in the United States.

Faria was with Toronto FC's reserve sides for three years before he departed the club to sign for York United in the Canadian Premier League and then moving to Finnish side MuSa for the 2022 campaign.

Faria returned to Toronto for 2023 to re-sign for their reserve side in the second tier of the American footballing pyramid, making his MLS debut for Toronto’s first-team coming on as a second-half substitute against Austin FC in 2023.

The midfielder returned to the Canadian Premier League in December 2023, signing with Valour FC for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, as he now makes the move to the Blues for 2026.

Valour folded at the end of last year, leading to all their players becoming free agents. Galway United have already snapped up two members of their squad in Kris Twardek and Gianfranco Facchineri, with Faira making it a trio to move to the League of Ireland.

Faria spoke of his excitement moving to Waterford, saying: "I'm delighted to be here. For me it’s surreal experience to be playing in Europe, it has been a dream of mine since I was young.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity and belief from the club, and I’m excited to work with Jon Daly and the rest of my team-mates here at Waterford."
