Republic of Ireland international Adam Idah is set for a "significant" spell on the sidelines after Swansea City manager Vitor Matos gave an update on the striker.

The 24-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in training before the Swans' defeat to Coventry City on St Stephen’s Day and is due to see a specialist to address the issue.

The Cork native, who signed from Celtic in September in a deal that could be worth up to around €10.9m, was a second-half substitute in Ireland’s famous 3-2 win away to Hungary that secured a play-off semi-final date with Czech Republic on 26 March.

He is now a potential doubt for the game in Prague, with Matos stating Idah "could be" facing months out of action.

The former Norwich frontman returned south of the border with two league titles and a Scottish FA Cup winners' medal to his name but having failed to convince his most stern detractors.

Idah grabbed a crucial late equaliser in Ireland's 2-2 draw at home in Hungary in September to keep alive World Cup hopes.
