Troy Parrott was on target for AZ Alkmaar once again but the Dubliner could not stop his team slipping to a 4-3 defeat at Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

The hosts hit the front nine minutes in through Justin Lonwijk before Parrott levelled it up ten minutes later with his 21st goal of the campaign.

Sven Mijnans put AZ ahead two minutes later but a Kaj Sierhuis brace either side of half-time restored Fortuna Sittard's lead. Sandwiched between Sierhuis' two goals was a missed Mijnans penalty, and though AZ did equalise again thanks to a Mees de Wit effort in the 71st minute, Philip Brittijn won it for Fortuna with four minutes to go.

AZ Alkmaar are sixth in the table as they head into the winter break.

Harry Kane claimed his 19th Bundesliga goal of the season as Bayern Munich restored their nine-point lead at the top by returning to winning ways with a comfortable 4-0 success at second-bottom Heidenheim.

First-half finishes from Josip Stanisic and Michael Olise set the reigning champions on course for a 13th victory from 15 league games this term.

Luiz Diaz put the result beyond doubt with a diving header before England captain Kane coolly completed the scoring in added time.

Vincent Kompany's side, who needed a late Kane penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to rock-bottom Mainz last weekend, end 2025 with an unbeaten away record in the Bundesliga.

Fourth-placed Villarreal, who had won their previous six league matches, were reduced to 10 men in the 39th minute when Renato Veiga received a straight red card for a rash challenge on Yamal.

Spain international Yamal poked home from close range in the 63rd minute to secure victory for Barca.
