Derry City have made a big statement signing ahead of the new League of Ireland Premier Division season after they announced the arrival of midfielder James Clarke from Bohemians.

Clarke joins the Candystripes on a three-year contract and will play at the Brandywell, having been linked to several clubs including Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee.

The 24-year-old was the top league scorer for Bohemians last season, scoring eight times from midfield and leaves the Dalymount club as a free agent after more than 100 appearances for the team.

Clarke made his name at Drogheda, helping the Lilywhites win promotion from the First Division on 2020, having come through the Shamrock Rovers academy and joined Bohemians during the 2022 campaign.

The signing of Clarke comes after Derry announced that Waterford FC midfielder James Olayinka had joined the club on a two-year deal, along with Rob Slevin of Galway United and Darragh Markey of Drogheda.
