Liverpool manager Arne Slot plans to have a sit-down meeting with Mohamed Salah today ahead of Liverpool's Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Salah was left out of the team that travelled to Italy for their 1-0 Champions League victory over Inter Milan on Tuesday after the 33-year-old tore into the club and Slot in incendiary post-match comments following last weekend's 3-3 draw with Leeds United, telling journalists he felt "thrown under the bus" by the club.

Liverpool ended Inter's 18 match unbeaten home run in Europe and while their performances have yet to reach the heights of last season, they have not lost a game since Salah has been dropped.

"I will have a conversation with Mo this morning, the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow," Slot said as speculation swirls over Salah's Merseyside future.

Pressed on Salah's status, Slot refused to offer any guarantees.

"I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying but there is not much more to say about it.

"We have spoken a lot in the last week after the Sunderland game. There were a lot of conversations between his representatives and ours, our representatives and him, between him and me, and today I will speak to him again."

Slot refused to be drawn on who exactly made the decision to leave Salah at home for the Champions League clash with Inter, with the player posting several photos of himself training alone while Liverpool were preparing for that game.

"Who made the call? I think we decided as a club and I was part of that not to take him to Inter. I am always in contact with them with lineup and squads, that is always left to me. I talk to Richard Hughes more than Michael Edwards, we speak about many things.

"Do I want him to stay? Another way of asking, but the next time I speak about Mo will be with him. I see no reason why I don't want him to stay."

Along with the Salah situation, Slot has some injury concerns ahead of the Brighton clash. Cody Gakpo and Wataro Endo are out, while there are question marks over Alexander Isak.

"Endo and Gakpo? They're going to be weeks. Cody is a muscle injury and Wata is ankle. Alex got a knock in the first half [against Inter], so let's see if he is able to start tomorrow."
