Troy Parrott missed a 99th minute penalty as AZ Alkmaar were beaten 1-0 by FC Twente in the Eredivisie this afternoon.
The in-form Republic of Ireland striker was given the chance to level the game and attempted a 'panenka', but saw the ball go high and right in the final act of the match.
He had earlier been booked in the match with Twente dominating proceedings and chances at a premium.
Parrott has now missed three consecutive penalties in the Eredivisie, albeit he did score from the spot for Ireland in the World Cup qualifying clash with Hungary earlier this month.
AZ defeated Shelbourne 2-0 in the UEFA Conference League last Thursday with Parrott not among the scorers.
Today's results leaves them in fourth place as they attempt to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Meanwhile Evan Ferguson is in the Roma squad for the fixture with Napoli in Serie A this evening and has started the half,
He is hoping to build on last week's goal against Cremonese.
