Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has vowed to stick to his long-term rebuild plan despite a 4-1 Premier League defeat by Arsenal, as his side make a daunting Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain tonight.
Tottenham were trounced by their north London rivals, with Eberechi Eze scoring a hat-trick for Arsenal on Sunday.
Frank's side have won only one out of their last five league matches, increasing the pressure on the Dane, who took the job in June after replacing the sacked Ange Postecoglou.
With five victories in 12 games, Tottenham are ninth in the league with 18 points, 11 behind leaders Arsenal but Frank said he was the right man to revive their fortunes.
"One thing I'm one thousand percent sure of is I know how to build a team and how to build a club. We'll do that," Frank said.
"Part of taking this job was to have challenges. Part of that is managing those setbacks, learn from it and move on."
Frank acknowledged it had been "a hard watch" when analysing the derby loss and revealed there had been two meetings with the players about a reaction.
Frank detailed how during 53 situations where Arsenal and Spurs were involved in a "duel or second ball", Tottenham lost 36.
"If you don’t do that, that is the basic, then it’s very difficult to win a football match," Frank, who is Tottenham's fifth full-time manager in six years said, before turning his attention to European champions PSG and insisting his team could respond strongly.
"We'll now be facing another of the best teams in Europe away from home," the 52-year-old added.
"So it's a nice challenge that we are one hundred percent up for and I'm convinced we'll bounce back with a good performance."
Frank also used opposite number Luis Enrique as a reference point after he responded to the 2024 departure of Kylian Mbappe by leading the Parisians to European glory 12 months later.
"First season, (Luis Enrique) also had to take a lot of battles," Frank said.
"And (he) turned everything around from playing with the biggest players in Europe to less stars, very determined players that play for the team and he created one of the best teams in the world by making those changes."
Tottenham are 12th in the Champions League with two wins in four games, and a win in Paris could potentially help them break into the top bracket.
Tottenham's Brennan Johnson is suspended for tonight's match after his red card in the win over Copenhagen.
