Crystal Palace midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn is waiting to learn her punishment after receiving a straight red card for grabbing an opponent in a headlock during a Women's League Cup clash at Leicester City last Sunday.

In the 58th minute, Littlejohn wrestled Foxes player Hannah Cain to the ground after a few players became involved in some pushing and shoving at Meadow Lane.

Cain had shoved Littlejohn in the back, prompting an angry response from the 35-year-old.

Palace were 3-0 up at the time, and that's how it stayed. Republic of Ireland pair Abbie Larkin and Hayley Nolan both started for the Eagles.

Littlejohn now faces an anxious wait to hear how long she'll be suspended for.

She joined Palace on a one-year deal in September. The Glasgow-born Ireland international had been a free agent since departing Shamrock Rovers at the end of June having arrived in Tallaght just three months previously.

She's in Carla Ward's squad for this week's friendly against Hungary, which will be played behind closed doors in Marbella, Spain. Littlejohn started both legs of the Girls in Green's impressive Nations League promotion/relegation play-off win against Belgium in October.
