Darren O'Dea's spell as Swansea interim boss has proven to be a short one with the English Championship side announcing the appointment of Vitor Matos as their new head coach until 2029.
O'Dea had been assistant manager with the Swans under Athlone-born Alan Sheehan, but moved into the top spot temporarily after they parted ways with Sheehan last week.
The former Republic of Ireland defender was in charge for Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Bristol City and has now departed the club.
The 37-year-old Matos was most recently in charge of Portuguese side Maritimo and will take charge of his first game in Tuesday's clash against Derby.
Swansea chief executive Tom Gorringe said: "We spoke to a range of candidates and Vitor was the clear stand-out with a cohesive plan of how to take our squad forward and improve.
"Vitor has spent over a decade working at elite clubs and has been a trusted figure for some of the best coaches operating in the modern game.
"He is committed to playing an attacking brand of football, and to developing players technically and tactically, and we are sure supporters are going to enjoy watching his Swansea team in action."
Kim Hellberg has been appointed as the new head coach of Middlesbrough, the Championship club have confirmed.
The 37-year-old arrives on Teesside from Swedish side Hammarby after former Boro boss Rob Edwards agreed to join Wolves earlier this month.
