The nominees for the 2025 SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland awards have been announced with Shamrock Rovers and Athlone Town dominating.

As expected, double champions Hoops are well represented with nominees in both the Men's Personality of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year categories.

The awards will be presented at a gala lunchtime banquet at Clontarf Castle hotel in Dublin on Friday, 5 December – the same day as the draw for the 2026 World Cup finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

In the Men’s Personality of the Year, league and cup double champions, Shamrock Rovers have three nominees with manager Stephen Bradley joined by team members Roberto Lopes and Graham Burke.

Dubliner Bradley, one of the most successful managers in the domestic game, is chasing his fourth SWI Personality of the Year award.

The other nominees on the six man short-list are Shelbourne boss Joey O’Brien and midfielder Kerr McInroy as well as Derry City’s wing wizard Michael Duffy.

There are three in the running to be named Goalkeeper of the Year.

Shamrock Rovers' Ed McGinty is joined by Derry City’s Brian Maher and Ghana international Joseph Anang, who had a terrific league campaign with St Patrick’s Athletic keeping 18 clean sheets.

Scottish-born McGinty was short-listed as well last year after playing every league game for Sligo Rovers.
