Former Republic of Ireland defender Darren O'Dea has been appointed Swansea’s interim manager as the English Championship club search for a replacement for Athlone-born Alan Sheehan.
Sheehan had also come in as interim manager initially at the Welsh side, replacing Belfast’s Michael Duff in 2023, before his second stint in charge came to an end with the Swans sitting 18th in the table earlier this month.
O’Dea, who had been assistant manager under Sheehan, will have Martyn Margetson, Kris O’Leary and Richard Stearman in his coaching team with their first assignment an away date against Bristol City on Saturday.
The 38-year-old left his role as Celtic’s professional player pathway manager and B team coach to join Swansea in May.
O’Dea, who won 20 caps for Ireland, had previously coached Motherwell’s Under-18 side.
Vitor Matos, manager of Portuguese side Maritimo, has been linked with the permanent position with the Swans with a previous target, Kim Hellberg, set to opt for Middlesborough instead.
