Troy Parrott's hat-trick goal has been viewed millions of times around the world through the power of social media.
World Cup qualifying campaigns can often bring the most dramatic moments when they enter the final round.
This was perhaps Ireland's greatest.
The Republic of Ireland must win two matches to book a place in the tournament next summer but the world reacted to seeing the scenes of joy as a play-off spot was secured.
We begin in Germany as newspaper Sport Bild put it beautifully with this headline: "Ireland madness in the 96th minute."
They said: "Drama in Budapest. Parrott equalised again and then the Irish whirlwind began. With irrepressible will, the visitors pressed for victory and were rewarded in the 96th minute. Parrott does it - 3-2 for Ireland."
Over in France they took something more of a poetic view.
L'Equipe opined that Parrott was the author of an improbable hat-trick.
The winning goal "offered immeasurable happiness to an entire nation, starting with his bench, drunk with joy to embrace the hero of the evening."
They also referenced Dublin Airport renaming itself "Troy Parrott Airport" on social media.

In Italy, Gazzetta said "everything happened" in the game in Budapest.
"Parrott hat-trick overturned the result: from 2-1 to 2-3 in the 96th minute. Hallgrimsson's team overtakes Marco Rossi's men in the standings and gains access to the play-offs."
American outlet ESPN had former Scotland international Craig Burley in studio, who, perhaps lacking originality, said. "You can imagine what it was like at the game but also in Dublin, Ireland. The Guinness would have been getting chucked everywhere."
Closer to home, over on ITV, former Republic of Ireland captain Roy Keane was thrilled: "Fantastic, amazing," he stated sharply.
"When you think the way they started the campaign, a draw and a defeat. To win today on the back of the Portugal result, it's fantastic.
"It's a great boost for the country and the team. The manager was heavily criticised but they've bounced back and got some momentum now.
"Parrott got a hat-trick. There was always talk about Parrott over the last few years, but he has stepped up in the last few days.
"It's a great achievement. Fingers crossed now for when they go to the play-offs.
"I'm not really too worried about the other teams at the moment. For Ireland to get back into the mix and have a chance, amazing."
BBC Sport's Mark Gault said "that the Republic of Ireland even had the chance to make the play-offs next March was remarkable" given results prior to this window.
"In a nail-biting second half, Parrott's deft finish 10 minutes from time gave the Republic of Ireland renewed hope.
"And after substitute Johnny Kenny was denied by Hungary goalkeeper Denes Dibusz, Parrott - the two-goal hero against Portugal - poked home the winner in the 96th-minute to spark ecstatic Irish celebrations at a stunned Puskas Arena."
In a move mixing home and abroad, the Hungarian media wrote about Robbie Keane singing about Troy Parrott on Blikk.hu.
Keane is well-known in Hungary as manager of Ferencvaros.
"The 146-time Irish international and goalscorer led the chant 'There's only one Troy Parrott' to the well-known tune of Winter Wonderland," the wrote.
They did add Keane was cheering for both teams.
