Liam Scales, Finn Azaz and Jack Taylor have all been included in the Ireland side to face Portugal in tonight's World Cup qualifier at Aviva Stadium.

Manager Heimir Hallgrimsson has named a defensively strong XI to take on the group leaders as Ireland look for a result to take into the final game in Budapest on Sunday.

Ireland look set to start with three in the centre of defence where captain Nathan Collins will be joined by Dara O'Shea and Jake O'Brien, while Seamus Coleman and Scales will take up the right and left wingback positions respectively.

Josh Cullen returns to the engine room after missing the last game against Armenia and will be joined in midfield by Jack Taylor, Finn Azaz and Chiedozie Ogbene, while Troy Parrott looks set to lead the line in attack. Caoimhín Kelleher, as expected, starts in goal.
