Bohemians captain Keith Buckley is to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
The 33-year-old midfielder enjoyed three different stints at Dalymount Park, scoring 20 goals across 379 appearances in all competitions.
In October 2022 he became Declan Devine's first signing as Bohs manager after a year abroad in Australia with Blacktown Spartans.
That first season ended in huge disappointment when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in the penultimate home match of the season, just three weeks out from the FAI Cup final, a game the Gypsies lost 3-1 to St Patrick’s Athletic.
Buckley was sidelined for 15 months, but returned to action to help the club secure a European spot this term.
The decision, he says, is born out of a desire for regular first-team football.
"This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my career, but I feel it is the right time for me, and the right time for Bohs," Buckley said in a statement.
"Missing the 2024 season through injury was tough for me, particularly when we were struggling as a team and I couldn’t do anything to help.
"Thankfully this has been a very different season for the team, and I’m delighted to be leaving after the high of the club qualifying for Europe again. I know how much that means to the fans, and it means so much to the players and staff as well.
"I want to be playing regularly and starting games, and unfortunately that means it is time to move elsewhere."
Drogheda United have been dealt a major blow with long-serving midfielder Darragh Markey opting not to sign a new contract.
Derry City have been heavily linked with the midfielder who has been instrumental in United's rise up the league, as well as last year's FAI Cup win.
The 28-year-old first joined the Boynesiders from St Patrick's Athletic in 2021 and made 180 appearances for the club over the last five seasons.
The midfielder, who was vice-captain for the 2025 season, played in every league game last term.
A Drogheda statement read: "Everyone at Drogheda United thanks Darragh for all of his contributions during his time at the club and wishes him the best in his next chapter."
Kevin Doherty has been able to keep hold of the likes of Conor Keeley and Andrew Quinn, but the loss of Markey is a setback.
Derry are expected to complete a deal for the midfielder.
The Candystripes have been busy turning over their squad with veteran defender and captain Mark Connolly released following the expiration of his contract, along with striker Danny Mullen.
Connolly had three-and-a-half years at the Ryan McBride Brandywell, with Mullen a year less.
Manager Tiernan Lynch is thankful for their contributions: "Mark is as honest as they come and he is held in the highest regard by players, staff and supporters here.
"He accepted the captaincy and took the role very seriously, proving himself a real leader for the squad.
"I want to sincerely thank him for everything he has done for this club and wish him every success for the future."
On Mullen's exit following 21 goals in 86 games, Lynch said: "We were having to mix things up a bit as long-term injuries affected us in the second half of the campaign and Danny certainly played his part in ensuring we finished the season strongly.
"He always gave everything and I wish him every success in his career going forward."
