Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson has been included in Heimir Hallgrimsson's extended 25-man squad to face Portugal and Hungary.
In a boost to Ireland's admittedly slim hopes of qualifying for next year's World Cup, Ferguson has been included despite limping off injured for Roma last week.
Sammie Szmodics, who withdrew from the last two international squads through injury, has missed out on a place as he recovers from knee surgery.
Szmodics suffered his latest injury after a quick comeback to club action in Ipswich's win over West Brom on 25 October, just 72 hours after the national team's win over Armenia.
The 30-year-old has featured in only one of Ireland's eight matches in 2025.
Wolves defender Matt Doherty is also absent through injury.
New York City FC defender Kevin O'Toole has received his first senior international call-up, and is one of two US-based players in the reckoning for the concluding World Cup qualifiers, alongside Andrew Moran, currently on loan at LAFC.
The squad includes both Jayson Molumby and Ryan Manning, who are suspended for the first match against Portugal at the Aviva Stadium.
The team will face Portugal at a sold-out Aviva Stadium on Thursday, 13 November, before travelling to Budapest to take on Hungary on Sunday, 16 November, as they aim to secure a place in the play-offs next March.
