(Treaty United win 2-1 on aggregate)
Eoin Martin wrote his name into Treaty United club folklore by scoring the winner that sends the club through to the First Division play-off final for the first time in their history at the expense of Cobh Ramblers at St Colman's Park.
It finished 2-1 on aggregate and 1-1 on the night, with Matthew Whelan getting the equaliser in the dying seconds for the home side in front of a crowd totalling 1636.
Tommy Barrett and his players will now face Bray Wanderers in a one-off game, after qualifying for the play-offs on the final day with a victory over Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park.
As for Cobh, a season that saw a battle against administration and a flirt with automatic promotion ends with the Munster Senior Cup as the sole takeaway.
Ramblers had to equalise on the night to keep their campaign alive after Joseph Hanson decided the first leg in Limerick last Friday.
The Shannonsiders started the better of the two teams in the face of this, beginning with a Lee Lynch free-kick that was headed away by Cian Coleman inside 90 seconds.
Karl O’Sullivan also tried his luck during his period and the goalkeeper forced Timothy Martin into a low save in the 6th minute.
Cian Murphy opened Cobh’s night with a right-footed strike that was easily stopped by Corey Chambers at the Liam McMahon Stand.
This is how the game went, as clear-cut openings were few and far between as the clock ticked on.
Hanson arguably went the closest of both teams during the first half with a free header, and even that was harmlessly stopped by the Cobh goalkeeper.
The home side were struggling to create clear chances, which meant a change in formation during the second half.
Samuel Bellis’ introduction meant a move to a 3-4-3 formation and Whelan saw that shift to a 4-4-2 set up in the 72nd minute.
Niall O’Keeffe thought he got the equaliser at one point with a blistering strike, and that was pushed out for a corner.
Treaty United tried breaking at the other end, but they couldn’t get a clear shot away at Martin.
Then came a cross and Shane Griffin knocked that on for Whelan to turn home in the second minute of time added on.
The crowd roared the Rams, but there was to be no encore. Instead, the home side tried breaking which allowed Treaty to pick a pass and set up Eoin Martin to score the winner from inside the area.
