Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick has said his playing career is "done" at the age of 33.
The Dubliner won 79 caps for the Boys in Green at senior level between 2013 and 2023 and was also a member of the squad at Euro 2016, starting all four of Ireland's matches in France.
At club level, the St Kevin's Boys product played for Derby County, Burnley, Newcastle, Queens Park Rangers, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday - the latter three on loan from the Magpies.
A short-term return to his first professional club Derby in the latter part of last season marked his final stay but he was subsequently left without a club after the summer transfer window.
Hendrick confirmed that he has decided not to pursue further playing opportunity and said that he plans to focus on family life going forward.
"I'm still not too old," he told Virgin Media Sport.
"(But) I think I'm done. I made the decision with the teams that have been interested with me. They didn't suit me or my family life and I'm at the age where you want something that's a bit exciting and to carry on enjoying playing and that didn't come up at the moment so I'm just spending more time with my kids.
"I lived the dream for so long, but I missed out on a lot of things as well, but for me, you have to weigh up both options and see what is best suited for me and my family life.
"Unfortunately, where I'm living, there are a lot of top teams in the Premier League who are in my vicinity, and they don't want me."
