The Republic of Ireland have dropped one place and are down to 61st in the latest FIFA men's world rankings.

Heimir Hallgrimsson's side made a disappointing start to the qualifiers for next year's World Cup, following up a 2-2 draw against ten-man Hungary at Aviva Stadium with a damaging 2-1 defeat in Armenia earlier this month.

The Boys in Green are now ranked between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Jordan, the latter of which will feature at the World Cup for the first time in 2026.

Spain have replaced Argentina at the top of the rankings, with the reigning world and Copa America champions also dropping down to third behind France.

England remain fourth, with Portugal leapfrogging Brazil into fifth place. The Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia and Italy round out the top ten.

Germany have slipped out of the top ten and are now 12th, a drop of three places, while Slovakia, who beat Julian Nagelsmann's side 2-0 in qualifying earlier this month, are the biggest movers in the top 100, leaping ten spots up to 42nd.

Northern Ireland, who are also in Germany and Slovakia's qualifying group, are 72nd after moving down one place.
