Sports Direct Men's FAI Cup surprise package Kerry FC have been handed a daunting semi-final draw, with the First Division side facing a trip to Shamrock Rovers, while Cork City will host St Patrick's Athletic in the other last-four clash.

The club from the Kingdom, who are only in their third season as a League of Ireland entity at senior level, shocked Sligo Rovers in the quarter-finals on Friday by coming from three goals down to win 4-3 after extra time and reach the semi-finals for the first time.

The reward for Colin Healy's side will be a trip to Tallaght Stadium against the side that sit at the very summit of the top flight, although Stephen Bradley's team had to come through a penalty shootout in their quarter-final at Drogheda United on Friday.

The tie will take place on Sunday 5 October, kick-off 6pm.

Cork City, meanwhile, were the only side to avoid extra time in the last-eight, beating Finn Harps 3-0 away, and the side at the bottom of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division will host a St Pat's outfit that have won the cup twice in the past four seasons.

City-Saints will be the first semi-final to be completed having been scheduled for Friday 3 October at 7.30pm.

Both matches will be live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.
