St Patrick's Athletic and Galway United will battle it out at Richmond Park as both sides eye the last remaining berth in the FAI Cup semi-finals.
Cork City, Kerry, and Shamrock Rovers progressed on Friday night and either the Saints or the Tribesmen will make up the quartet for the penultimate round in the competition.
League form has stalled both side’s seasons, and the cup may prove the best route to the promised land of European football.
Stephen Kenny is hoping that his side show the form that has seen his side impress in recent months both in the league and in European competition - Saints' league hopes were hit due to early season woes.
Saints have not been beaten by Irish opponents since they lost 1-0 to Derry back in June and they impressed in the last round of the cup, beating Dublin rivals Shelbourne 2-0 to progress to the quarter-finals.
"We had seven clean sheets in a row before the Derry game (2-2 at the Brandywell)," said Kenny. "But Galway are tough opponents, and we have to be at our best to get the win that we need."
Galway’s form throughout the summer, however, has been really concerning as John Caulfield’s side have lost six out of their last seven league outings, with the creditable scoreless draw against league leaders Shamrock Rovers the only point picked up throughout that disappointing run of games.
Looking for positives, they will attempt to draw from the performances that have seen them reach the quarter-finals thanks to wins against Tolka Rovers and Salthill Devon, albeit both sides playing in lower leagues.
They can also look back to a strong showing against today's hosts back in June when Galway beat Saints 3-1 at Eamonn Deacy Park.
It will be a tough task to come to Dublin and look to secure safe passage against quality opposition, and while the league form will take priority, Galway will be hoping to put in a positive performance, at least, to help kickstart their season and move clear of a relegation dogfight.
