Bohemians agree new deal with Alan Reynolds, Stephen Donnelly and Derek Pender

Bohemians have confirmed that manager Alan Reynolds assistant manager Stephen O'Donnell and coach Derek Pender have signed new contracts until the end of the 2027 season.

Reynolds was brought to Dalymount Park in March last year succeeding Declan Devine. Prior to that the Waterford native was assistant manager at his home club and also served alongside Jim Crawford with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

The manager was joined by O'Donnell, a double winner with the club in 2008, two months later and Pender has been with the club for 13 years as a player, club captain, under-17s manager and, most recently, as first-team coach since 2021.

The new contracts suggest the Gypsies back the management team that guided the squad to an eighth-place finish in the Premier Division last year. Bohs currently sit second in the league, some nine points adrift of table-toppers Shamrock Rovers, who also have a game in hand.

Reynolds admits that managing a club with such rich history is challenging and says that O'Donnell and Pender are key to his side's recent improvement in performance.

"It is without doubt one of the toughest jobs in the country but it's tough for the right reasons," the 51-year-old said. "This is a club steeped in history and tradition. That's important to me, I want to be a part of that history and tradition, and I want to be at a club where there is ambition and where there is pressure.

"When you look to build a backroom team, you want staff you can trust, who are loyal, who are ambitious, and who bring knowledge and experience to what we are trying to achieve.

"Stevie and Derek have all of that in spades, so I’m over the moon that we will be continuing to work together."
