Tottenham have pulled off the major signing of Dutch international Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in a welcome boost for new boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs have tracked a high-quality addition all summer and after recent failed pursuits of Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, the capture of 22-year-old Simons represents a significant coup for the north London club.

We're delighted to announce the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term contract ✍️
Simons joins in a deal worth an initial €60m with further add-ons included.
Leipzig have a sell-on clause for Simons, who had been expected to join Chelsea this summer, but the Blues' failure to offload out-of-favour players enabled Spurs to hijack the transfer.
Simons has put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract and provides multiple options for Frank, with the Netherlands international able to excel on the left wing or in the number 10 position and equally adept on the right.
A product of Barcelona's La Masia academy, Simons moved to Paris St Germain in 2019 as a teenager before he made headlines during a productive loan spell at PSV in the 2022-23 campaign - scoring 22 times.
Simons would spend the next two seasons at Leipzig and added 24 assists along with 22 goals in 78 appearances before his move was made permanent earlier this year.
However, with Leipzig willing to let Simons leave for a sizeable fee after the Bundesliga club missed out on Champions League qualification, Tottenham this week entered the race again for his signature after previous interest.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho has arrived at Chelsea's training ground in advance of his £40 million (€46.2m) move from Manchester United, head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed.
A deal was agreed on Thursday between the parties after the 21-year-old was made surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
He was at Cobham on Friday afternoon to undergo a medical and finalise the move.
"I know he is around here," said Maresca. "I don't know exactly where."
Asked how he was the United academy graduate fitting into his team, Maresca said: "He's a winger. I see him as a winger."
The Italian would not rule out the possibility of more arrivals and departures before Monday's deadline.
"You can expect anything, the transfer window is open, anything can happen in and out," he said.
Nicolas Jackson's move to Bayern Munich from Chelsea is growing nearer with an agreement possible as early as this weekend, it's understood.
The Bundesliga champions made a loan bid this week which could include an obligation to buy, with the 24-year-old understood to be keen on moving to Germany having been told he does not have a future at Stamford Bridge.
Talks are ongoing between the clubs and though Newcastle and Aston Villa have shown interest in keeping the Senegal international in the Premier League, Bayern looks increasingly likely to be his destination.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe confirmed Germany striker Nick Woltemade was on Tyneside on Friday morning with a view to completing a club record £65m (€75m) switch from VfB Stuttgart.
Howe said: "Things are moving and developing in a good way at the moment, but until things are done, I can't confirm anything. But fingers crossed."
However, the Magpies' head coach revealed the Germany international is unlikely to be involved in Saturday's Premier League trip to Leeds even if the move is completed.
West Ham have completed the signing of midfielder Mateus Fernandes from Southampton.
The 21-year-old has agreed a five-year deal to sign for Graham Potter's struggling side in a "package worth over £40m", according to Southampton.
The Hammers, who face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday, are rooted to the foot of the Premier League having lost both of their matches so far.
West Ham were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup earlier this week after they surrendered a two-goal lead over Wolves.
"I’m very happy to be here, and I’m very excited to play for West Ham," said Portugal Under-21 international Fernandes.
"It’s a big step for me. It’s a big club, a massive club. The project, the stadium, the city, everything."
