Republic of Ireland midfielder Finn Azaz looks set to swap Middlesbrough for fellow Championship side Southampton after the clubs agreed a deal reportedly worth £15m (€17.4m).
Born in London and raised in Birmingham, Azaz, who has Irish and Israeli heritage, began his career at West Brom Albion before signing for Aston Villa in 2021.
His father Tim is a nephew of Cork dual All-Ireland winner Brian Murphy, and he was first called up to the Irish Under-21 setup in 2022.
He never made an appearance for the Villans before moving to Boro for a fee of around €2.9m in January 2024.
Two months later, he was handed his senior international debut by then interim Ireland manager John O'Shea, and has since earned seven caps in total, scoring one goal.
Azaz, who turns 25 next month, scored in Middlesbrough's 2-1 win over Norwich last weekend, helping the club to maintain their 100% start to the season.
He has fast become one of the most highly regarded attacking midfielders in the English second tier and Southampton are now aiming to make him a team-mate of international colleagues Gavin Bazunu, Ryan Manning and Will Smallbone, with an offer of £12m plus £3m in add-ons.

Fabio Silva is poised to complete a move from Wolves to Borussia Dortmund.
An agreement has been reached on a transfer fee between the clubs for the 23-year-old Portuguese, and it is understood Wolves have given the player permission to travel to Germany in order to undergo a medical.
Silva began his career with Porto but joined Wolves in September 2020.
He has since had spells on loan at Belgian side Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Rangers and Spanish side Las Palmas.
He won his first senior cap for Portugal last November in a Nations League match against Croatia.
The club are understood to have rejected a £55million (€64m) bid for Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen from Newcastle.
Newcastle have rejected an offer of £110m (€128m) for Isak from Liverpool and are believed to want a British record £150m (€174m) but in the meantime are working to recruit new attacking players.
It is understood Wolves do not see Strand Larsen as being for sale at any price, so the Magpies may need to look elsewhere in their striker search. They have also been heavily linked with Brentford's Yoane Wissa.
Isak is training alone at Newcastle, having indicated his desire to leave the club despite having three years left on his contract.
However, he is set to feature for Sweden next month after being selected in the squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo on 5 and 8 September.
Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson said: "I am very happy that Alexander Isak wants to be in the squad, he is a huge player.
"The situation he is in is not perfect and he has not trained with the team. But he is a player who can decide matches and he wants to be part of our squad. The World Cup is important for Alexander Isak."
Manchester City have informed Tottenham that they will not be selling their top transfer target Savinho (above) this summer.
Spurs had been reported to be ready to submit an improved offer of £60.6m (€70m) for the Brazilian forward.
But City have knocked back previous bids and have now told their Premier League rivals he will not be leaving the Etihad Stadium for any price.
The news is another big setback for Tottenham in their efforts to strengthen new manager Thomas Frank's squad having missed out on two previous high-profile players in the current transfer window.
Morgan Gibbs-White was set for a medical last month after the Londoners looked to trigger a release clause before Nottingham Forest blocked the deal.
Tottenham, looking to replace Son Heung-min and the injured James Maddison, then missed out on Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, who opted to join boyhood club Arsenal, having been expected to complete a deal with their north London rivals.
City boss Pep Guardiola insisted last week that he wanted to keep Savinho at the club for "many years" amid the speculation linking him with Spurs.
Savinho made 48 appearances for City in his debut campaign after joining last summer, scoring three goals and adding 13 assists.
Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic is set to sign for Hamburg on a season-long loan.
Vuskovic (above) officially joined Spurs this summer after the club first agreed to sign the centre-back in 2023 when he was only 16.
While Vuskovic has made a positive impression on Frank, and scored in a 2-0 friendly win at Reading last month, he has been allowed to leave on loan.
Hamburg immediately moved to the front of the queue to secure the 18-year-old when he was made available for a temporary switch, especially given the family history after Vuskovic's brother Mario has previously represented the Bundesliga club.
Croatia international Vuskovic will finalise a move this week, but it will only be a straight loan deal and not include any option to purchase the highly rated defender, it is understood.
"To be sat here now, it's fantastic." 🤩

Danny Ings spoke after making his move to the Blades official. 🗣️
Sheffield United have announced the signing of former Liverpool and England striker Danny Ings.
Ings, 33, was a free agent after his contract with West Ham was not renewed. He has signed a one-year deal.
The Blades are rooted to the foot of the Championship without a point, having scored just one goal in their first three matches.
"I've been keeping myself fit and I've just been waiting for the right opportunity," said Ings. "I thought this was a great one for me and a chance to progress my career as well."
Leeds midfielder Sam Greenwood has completed a permanent move to Polish top-flight side Pogon Szczecin for an undisclosed fee.
Szczecin are reported to have paid a club record fee of around £2m (€2.3m) for the 23-year-old, who has ended his five-year stay at Elland Road.
Leeds said: "Everyone at Leeds United would like to thank Sam for his efforts whilst representing the club both on and off the pitch and we wish him every success for the next step in his career."
Greenwood made 35 senior appearances in total for Leeds after joining from Arsenal in 2020 and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Middlesbrough and Preston respectively.
Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino has joined Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old joined the Blues from Boca Juniors last August, then headed back to the Argentinian club on loan, making 18 appearances.
He made his Chelsea debut as a late substitute against Benfica en route to their triumph at the Club World Cup.
Sunderland striker Luis Hemir has agreed a season-long loan switch to Portuguese side Moreirense.
The 22-year-old joined Sunderland two years ago and spent last season loaned out to Serie C outfit Juventus Next Gen.
