Ipswich Town have signed Leicester City winger and Republic of Ireland international Kasey McAteer for a fee that could rise to £14million (€16.1m).
The 23-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with the Tractor Boys, this after making 56 appearances for Leicester, who had rejected a bid from Sunderland earlier this year.
McAteer joined the Foxes at the age of eight and had loan spells at Forest Green Rovers and AFC Wimbledon before breaking into the first team. Leicester's return to the Premier League saw McAteer make 18 appearances during the 2024-25 season, a campaign that ended with the club's immediate return to the Championship.
Ipswich also made the drop but McAteer is now relishing the opportunity to be part of Kieran McKenna's set-up, which already includes international team-mates Dara O'Shea, Chiedozie Ogbene, Jack Taylor and Sammie Szmodics.
He told the Ipswich Town website: "I'm delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started.
"It’s a very attractive project which is being built here and I want to add myself to that. I’ve been to Ipswich as an away player and I know how good the support is. As soon as I heard Ipswich were interested it was the only move I wanted to make.
"The aim is to get promoted again and that’s what we will push for every day. I want to be a part of that and I aspire to be the best version of myself, which is something I will be looking to bring to the squad.
"I’m excited to get to work with the boys and the staff and I can’t wait to meet the fans."
McAteer has so far won six international caps, making his Ireland debut against England in the Nations League last September. His first goal in the green jersey came against Senegal, in last June's friendly against Senegal.

Another Irish international, Andy Moran, is moving Stateside on loan for the first half of the season, making the switch from Brighton to MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.
The 21-year-old, after his move from Bray Wanderers in 2020, was loaned out by the Seagulls in 2023, and spent time at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. He joins Los Angeles as part of Major League Soccer's U-22 initiative and will occupy an international roster slot.
Co-president and general manager John Thorrington said of Moran's acquisition: "We are confident that he will strengthen our group immediately, and we look forward to supporting his growth at LAFC as we continue our pursuit of trophies."
Moran has so far made three senior appearances for the Republic of Ireland, making his debut in the friendly international against New Zealand in 2023.
