Roma have made an offer worth in the region of £20million (€23m) for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.

The 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations since making his hotly anticipated £73m (€85m) switch from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford in 2021.

Sancho has made just 83 appearances and scored 12 goals since making the move to United, who are hoping to get him off the books this summer.

There have been recent whispers of a move to Serie A and is is understood that Roma have made a bid to sign the England international, whose contract runs until next summer with an option for a further year.

Sancho last appeared for United in the Community Shield last season, when his penalty was saved in the shoot-out loss to his former club Manchester City.

The winger had returned having ended the 2023-24 campaign on loan back at Dortmund after being frozen out for claiming on social media that he had been made a "scapegoat".

Those comments in September 2023 were in response to then United manager Erik ten Hag saying he had not reached the "level" required to be involved in their squad at Arsenal.

Sancho returned for last year's pre-season at United but went on to join Chelsea on a season-long loan, only for the west London outfit to pay £5m to get out of their deal to make the move permanent for £25m.

The Manchester City youth graduate does not have a number at United and is one of a quintet of players that have did not train with Ruben Amorim's side during pre-season as they seek a move elsewhere.

Homegrown forward Marcus Rashford was among them and last month sealed a season-long switch to Barcelona with the option to make the move permanent.

United want £50m (€58m) for Chelsea target Alejandro Garnacho, while exits have also yet to be secured for Antony and Tyrell Malacia following loans at Real Betis and PSV respectively.

Jacob Ramsey is on his way out of Villa

Newcastle have agreed a fee for Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey.

The 24-year-old is due to travel to the north east for a medical after a deal in the region of £40million (€47m) was agreed.

The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell.

If the medical goes without problem and personal terms are agreed in the next 24 hours, Ramsey could be a Newcastle player by the time they visit Villa Park for Saturday lunchtime's Premier League opener.

Villa boss Unai Emery is not expected to see much, if any, of the financial proceeds as the club's spending is under the close eye of UEFA after they were fined £9.5m for breaching regulations.

They are keen on re-signing Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, who spent the second half of last season on loan.

Ramsey’s arrival at St James’ Park will boost spirits after a difficult transfer window for Eddie Howe’s side.

They have signed Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw, with Aaron Ramsdale arriving on loan, but missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who chose to join Manchester United instead.

The future of Alexander Isak also remains unclear following the Sweden international’s desire to join Liverpool.

Giovanni Leoni looks to be heading to Anfield

The Merseysiders have agreed a deal to sign Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.

It is understood the Reds will pay £26m (€30m) plus add-ons for the 18-year-old.

Leoni is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday as head coach Arne Slot has moved to strengthen his options at centre-back.

He played most of pre-season with just two recognised specialists in the role – Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate – as Joe Gomez, who returned to training this week, was injured and Jarell Quansah was sold to Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool are still interested in Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, who has a year left on his contract, but have so far been unable to agree a fee.

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal worth up to £30m (€35m) with Manchester City for England Under-21 captain James McAtee (above, bottom-right).

It is understood that the arrangement includes a sell-on fee and City will have a buy-back option on the 22-year-old.

The midfielder has come through the youth set-up at the Etihad Stadium but has not been a first-team regular under Pep Guardiola.

He made 15 Premier League appearances last season but only three starts, with most of his senior experience coming during two successful loan spells with Sheffield United.

He opted not to travel to the United States for the Club World Cup in the summer in order to concentrate on the European Under-21 Championship, a decision which was vindicated as he led England to victory.

Forest have also agreed a deal believed to be around £37m (€43m) for Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson.

The move, which would be Forest's club-record transfer, is still to be finalised but Forest are hoping it will go ahead.

Hutchinson, who was also part of England’s Under-21s success, played 32 times for the Tractor Boys as they were relegated to the Championship, scoring three goals and getting two assists.

With players needing to be registered by 12pm on Friday to be involved in the weekend action, and neither having a medical booked in as of Thursday night, they are not expected to be at the club in time to feature in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Brentford.

Forest have signed Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, Botafoga pair Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha while also tying captain Morgan Gibbs-White down to a long-term contract amid alleged unsolicited interest from Tottenham.

Wrexham have broken their transfer record in a deal worth up to £10million (€11.6m) for Ipswich striker Nathan Broadhead.

The 27-year-old Wales international has signed a four-year contract at SToK Cae Ras subject to international clearance.

The Red Dragons have tracked him for several weeks and the move accelerated after Ipswich signed Chuba Akpom from Ajax.

Broadhead was in the final year of his contract at Ipswich, having joined them on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Everton for £1.5m in January 2023.

Wrexham have broken their transfer record numerous times since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took control of the club in 2021.

Lewis O’Brien joined from Nottingham Forest in a reported £3m deal last month, the midfielder one of several signings as Sky Bet Championship new boys Wrexham invested heavily ahead of their first campaign in the second tier of English football for 43 years.

Broadhead becomes Wrexham’s ninth signing since they were promoted from League One last season.

He has won 14 caps for Wales, scoring twice, and would join international team-mates Danny Ward and Kieffer Moore at the SToK Cae Ras.
