Shamrock Rovers Women's head coach Collie O’Neill has resigned from his position, the club have announced.

O’Neill leaves with the team in sixth place in the Premier Division, with six games remaining in the season.

The former UCD boss took over the Hoops in 2023 and led the team to third and fifth place finishes.

Rovers lost 1-0 at home to DLR Waves last Saturday, their third defeat of the league season.

Assistant coach Ciaran Ryan has also left the Dublin side.

"Shamrock Rovers FC can confirm that Collie O'Neill has decided to resign from his position as Head Coach of our Women's First Team," the club said in a statement on Thursday morning.

"We would like to place on record our thanks to Collie for all of his contribution during his time at the club, and we wish him the very best for the future.

"Assistant coach Ciaran Ryan has notified the club that he will also depart at this time.

"We also thank Ciaran for his work with Shamrock Rovers and send best wishes for what comes next."

Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers Men's team have announced the loan signing of Connor Malley (above) from Sligo Rovers until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old midfielder, from Tyne and Wear, has previously had spells with Dundalk and Rochdale.
