Cork City winger Malik Dijksteel has signed a pre-contract agreement with Scottish Premiership outfit St Mirren.

The Dutch winger will stay at Turner's Cross until the expiration of his contract after the end of the current League of Ireland season.

City will not be entitled to compensation.

The 24-year-old has spent a large portion of the season on the sidelines due to injury.

He joined Cork in August 2023 but could not prevent relegation to the First Division.

Dijksteel played 17 times the following season as Cork were promoted back to the top flight

He scored their opening goal of the season against Galway United in February but spent close to three months out with a knock picked up against Sligo Rovers in early March.

The winger returned to the starting line-up in late June and has done enough to impress St Mirren to bring him to Scotland.

He follows Djenairo Daniels to Scotland after the striker was transferred to Kilmarnock.

Dijksteel is likely to start in Friday’s crunch relegation clash for City at home to Sligo.

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said: "Malik is a player that we have kept tabs on over the last six months.

"He's a real bright spark in the final third. He’s quick, direct, takes players on and I think the fans will really take to him given how exciting he is."

City have added their numbers for the rest of the season the signing of Kaedyn Kamara on loan from Preston North End.

The 19-year-old midfielder said: "It's very good to get it done. I’m buzzing to be here, and get started."

"I saw my teammate Kitt Nelson come here and do very well. I know a few other lads here, like Harry Nevin. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the city and the club. It’s a big club, so hopefully I can do well."

Now eight points behind the Bit O’ Red, the encounter has turned into a must-win clash for Ger Nash’s side after just two victories in 24 matches this campaign.
