Evan Ferguson lands in Rome ahead of Serie A loan move

Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson landed in Italy on Sunday evening to complete a loan move to Serie A giants Roma from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ferguson's club career has plateaued at the Seagulls, with a short spell at West Ham in the second half of last season falling disappointingly flat.

A mooted move to Roma has been in the works but they could not reach an agreement with Brighton on a fee for the player should the Italians wish to sign Ferguson permanently.

A compromise has now seemingly been reached, with the 20-year-old jetting into Ciampino Airport on Sunday where he was welcomed by roughly a hundred Roma fans.

Roma finished fifth in the league last season under Claudio Ranieri, who was subsequently replaced by former Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini on a three-year contract.
