Bohemians have confirmed the departure of former Premier League striker Lys Mousset.

The 28-year-old had played over 90 games in England's top flight with Bournemouth and Sheffield United before his career fell into a downward trajectory, ending with spells in France and Germany.

He arrived at Dalymount Park following a successful trial spell, with significant interest and intrigue around the signing given his one-time price tag of €13 million when joining the Blades.

Mousset struggled initially as he looked to gain match fitness, having spent a year on the sidelines before joining Bohs.

Despite several starts and appearances from the bench, his time with the Gypsies yielded just a single goal as he bagged the winner against Sligo Rovers in May in The Showgrounds.

A statement from Bohs read: "Bohemian FC can today confirm the departure of Lys Mousset by mutual consent.

"We thank Lys for his efforts at the club over the past six months and wish him all the very best for the future."

Alan Reynolds' side have struggled for goals from strikers, with Colm Whelan scoring in just two matches and Mousset in one.

Despite that, they have risen to second in the Premier Division table.

Former Drogheda United attacked Douglas James-Taylor penned a long-term deal with Bohs yesterday, with Mousset's exit following 24 hours later.

Meanwhile, winger Dayle Rooney has extended his contract at the club.

The 27-year-old, who moved to Dalymount Park from Drogheda ahead of the 2024 season, will be on the books at Bohs until the end of the 2027 season.
