Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher's has been given permission to leave the Ireland camp as his ten-year stay at Liverpool appears to be coming to an end, with the Corkman closing in on a move to Brentford.
Ireland are training in Dublin this morning and the FAI confirmed that the keeper was "given permission to return to the UK", but is fully expected to be back in time for Friday's international encounter with Senegal.
The 26-year-old joined the Reds academy from Ringmahon Rangers back in 2015.
A long-time back-up to Alisson Becker, Kelleher has enjoyed severable memorable moments with the Merseysiders.
Used regularly by Jurgen Klopp in the cup competitions, he started in the 2022 Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, lashing home the winning penalty after the game went to spot-kicks.
Two years later, he started in another Carabao Cup decider - Chelsea again the opponents. He kept a clean sheet as Liverpool won 1-0 after extra-time.
He played his part in the team's Premier League title victory this season, deputising impressively for Alisson Becker who missed a significant chunk of the campaign due to injury.
A number of clubs were monitoring Kelleher, whose contract at Liverpool expires next summer, but it seems Brentford have won the race, according to media reports in England.
A reported initial fee of £12.5m (€15m) can rise to £18m (€21.5) if performance-related requirements are met.
The Bees' first-choice stopper Mark Flekken is close to joining Bayer Leverkusen, so Kelleher will go straight in as Thomas Frank's No 1.
Kelleher has been included in Heimir Hallgrimsson's 24-man Ireland squad for the friendlies against Senegal at Aviva Stadium on Friday 6 June and away to Luxembourg four days later.
