Cardiff have been relegated from the Championship following a 0-0 draw at home against West Brom.

The stalemate at Cardiff City Stadium left the Bluebirds, playing their second match since sacking Omer Riza and putting Aaron Ramsey in interim charge, at the foot of the table and heading to the third tier for the first time since 2003.

For West Brom, whose play-off hopes are over, it was a first game under their interim boss James Morrison, after Tony Mowbray's departure.

Plymouth moved off the bottom to 23rd with a 2-1 win at Preston, with Mustapha Bundu and Callum Wright getting the goals, but are all but down, three points adrift of safety with a goal difference vastly inferior to their rivals.

Hull dropped into the relegation zone after losing 1-0 at home to fellow strugglers Derby courtesy of Nat Phillips' late header.

Shandon Baptiste fires home Luton's goal

Luton lifted themselves out of it with a 1-0 home win over sixth-placed Coventry sealed by Shandon Baptiste's 90th-minute finish, a contest in which both sides had a man sent off, Jay Dasilva early on for the visitors and then Liam Walsh midway through the second half for the Hatters.

Derby, Preston and Luton are all a point better off than Hull.

Oxford secured their survival by beating fourth-placed Sunderland 2-0 at home, Ben Nelson and Michal Helik on the scoresheet.

Promoted Burnley moved above Leeds to the top of the table with a 5-0 thrashing of QPR at Loftus Road, where both Zian Flemming and Jeremy Sarmiento scored braces.

Millwall are behind Coventry on goal difference after beating Swansea 1-0 at home thanks to George Saville's first-half effort.

Blackburn are a point further back having come from behind to beat Watford 2-1 at Ewood Park, and Middlesbrough are another point behind that following a 0-0 home draw with Norwich, the Canaries' first game with Jack Wilshere as interim boss.

Saturday's other match saw Sheffield Wednesday play out a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth at Hillsborough.
