Bohemians scored three times in the last 20 minutes against Shamrock Rovers with 18-year-old Rhys Brennan netting a memorable winner in injury-time.

The Gypsies made it two wins out of two in the league this season against their rivals, this time coming from 2-0 down in a cracking contest in front of a Bank Holiday crowd of almost 8,500 at Tallaght Stadium.

Josh Honohan and a first SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division goal from 16-year-old Michael Noonan had the home side in front at the break.

But Bohs weren't prepared to lie down and second half strikes from captain Dawson Devoy and Ross Tierney pulled the game back to 2-2 before Brennan’s injury-time winner sent the visiting supporters into raptures

Bohs had kicked off their 2025 season with a 1-0 win over the Hoops at the Aviva Stadium but Rovers had been the better of the two teams since and looked like collecting all three points.

Michael Noonan bagged a first Premier Division goal

Rovers boss Stephen Bradley made three changes to the side that drew with St Patrick’s Athletic last Friday, bringing in Aaron Greene and the youngster Noonan for Graham Burke and Rory Gaffney, while Danny Grant made way for Adam Mathews in defence.

Bohemians, for their part, also made three alterations from the win over Cork City as James McManus, Dayle Rooney and James Clarke replaced Adam McDonnell, Archie Meekison and Colm Whelan.

After back to back corners, Bohs almost took the lead as a Tierney cross from the right was just missed by the sliding Clarke who was inches away from giving them an early lead.

At the other end Jack Byrne was on the end of a length of the pitch move for the Hoops, but his shot from the edge of the area didn’t match the excellent build-up.

The game lost some life after those chances and it wasn’t until the 25th minute that Rovers almost hit the front as Honohan, cutting in from the left after a long mazy run, saw his right footed swinging shot smack the Bohs post.

Moments later Tierney was booked for a lunging tackle on Rovers captain Roberto Lopes and from the resulting crossed free-kick from Jack Byrne, Lopes should have at least hit the target.

But Rovers took the lead in the 39th minute when Honohan went on a run which took him across the edge of the Bohs penalty area.

Ross Tierney had equalised for Bohemians

It seemed as if he had lost control momentarily, but Honohan reached the loose ball and cracked in the opener past Kacper Chorazka in the visitors' goal.

The crowd had just about resumed their seats when Rovers went two up in the 41st minute as Noonan picked up the ball in his own half and galloped into the opposition’s penalty before his low shot left footed shot from inside the area tucked itself neatly into the bottom corner of the net.

But Bohemians kept at it after the break and Alan Reynolds’ side pulled one back after 70 minutes when, after a scramble in the area, Devoy’s side-footed effort beat Ed McGinty in the home goal.

Devoy had a glorious chance to equalise moments later but skied his shot from the edge of the area into the home supporters in the South Stand.

However Tierney then poked home the equaliser in the 81st minute having been set-up by sub Whelan.

The drama wasn’t over yet as Tierney found Brennan to score after McGinty’s saved rebounded to him in the area in the 96th minute to finish at the second time of asking, breaking Rovers hearts and sending the Bohemians fans home singing.
