In 2021, Young was inducted into the hall of fame before the FAI Cup Final match between Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic at the Aviva Stadium.
Young was at the helm for one of the greatest nights in the club’s history, a 3-2 win at home to Rangers in the UEFA Cup in 1984.

In a statement released by the club it said the ex-manager has been a "life-long member" and was still attending fixtures at Dalymount up to and including this season.
The statement read: "It is with great sadness that Bohemian FC confirms that Billy Young, our longest-serving and greatest-ever manager, passed away yesterday at the age of 87.
"As both a player and manager, Billy's service to Bohemians spanned three decades, representing our club with love, passion and determination.
"In his 16-year reign as manager between 1973 and 1989, he brought unprecedented success to Dalymount Park, winning two league titles, an FAI Cup and the League Cup twice.
"He led the club he loved on magical European nights, most notably the famous 3-2 win over Glasgow Rangers in 1984.
"To all of the Young family, Billy’s many friends, former team-mates and protégés, everyone at Bohemian FC extends our deepest sympathies and condolences on the passing of the best of Bohemians."
