The Republic of Ireland women will return to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in June for their UEFA Nations League clash against Slovenia, with Munster set to play one of their Investec Champions Cup games there in December if they qualify for next season's competition.
The Girls in Green played at the Leeside venue last July, defeating France 3-1 in their final Euro 2025 League A Group 3 qualifier, and are set to return on Tuesday, 3 June, 6pm KO.
On Saturday, the GAA's Central Council passed a motion permitting Ireland to play the last of their six Nations League fixtures in Cork.
It could be a critical showdown. Slovenia hammered Carla Ward's side 4-0 in February and are favourites to gain automatic promotion from League B. However, if they slip up in any of their next three matches, and Ireland can beat Greece (twice) and then Turkey away, it would set up an intriguing climactic battle.
The group winner goes straight up to League A while the runners-up enter the promotion/relegation play-offs against one of the League A third-placed countries.
Ireland travel to Crete to take on the Greeks this Friday before welcoming the same opposition to Tallaght the following Tuesday.
"All of our players and staff talk so positively about the welcome they received in Cork and the atmosphere created in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, so we're hoping to experience that again in front of a packed stadium," said Ward.
Meanwhile Munster Rugby have also been given approval in principle to play a European game at the Páirc in December. Munster played Crusaders there in February 2024; while in November 2022, they beat a South Africa Select XV 28-14 at the stadium. Both of those collisions were sellouts.
First though, the province need to make sure they're in the tournament.
There's a huge battle for the eight URC Champions Cup places with 15 sides vying for eight spots.
Munster, who beat Connacht in Mayo on Saturday, are fifth in the table.
