Cobh Ramblers are set to become the latest side to join the Women's Premier Division after confirming plans to launch a senior side in 2026.
The club describe the move as "a landmark step in our club’s history and a testament to our dedication to advancing women’s football in Ireland."
Cobh has been transformed by US-based investment from FC32, now falling into a multi-club ownership model that includes Austrian second tier side SKN St Pölten.
Ramblers said of the news of their future women's side: "With the unwavering support of FC32, our ownership group, and a player-first philosophy, this expansion will create a clear and professional pathway from youth development to senior football.
"Talented female players will now have the opportunity to grow and thrive within a structured and ambitious environment at Cobh Ramblers."
As part of the move, Ramblers are recruiting a number of new coaches with at least five positions
They will begin at Under-19 level before the senior side is created next year.
The senior men's side are currently second in the First Division and look set to battle it out with Dundalk for automatic promotion to the Men's Premier Division.
They currently operate two academy teams at female level which will help them launch their side next year.
It will bring the number of teams participating in the Women's Premier Division to 13 after Waterford FC were became part of the league this year.
