Champions Shelbourne have added midfielder Kerr McInroy to their squad from Scottish side Kilmarnock.

McInroy, 24, is a former Celtic youth academy player and has gained significant experience in senior football during his time in his home country.

He made his senior debut while on loan at hometown side Dunfermline Athletic during the 2020/21 season, where he featured in 22 matches.

Loan spells at Airdrieonians and Ayr United yielded six goals in 26 appearances to earn a move to Kilmarnock before spending the 2023/24 season on loan at Partick in the Scottish Championship.

McInroy said: "I’m absolutely delighted to join Shelbourne, after speaking to the manager I knew this was the right place for me. I saw the success of last season and I want to be a part of that going forward. I’m really looking forward to working with all the staff, players and meeting everyone involved with the club."

Shels boss Damien Duff is thrilled with his new signing having known him from his time with the Celtic first-team coach: "Kerr is a top class addition to the squad and we are all absolutely delighted he has come. Even more pleasing, he was desperate to join this special group which is always a great start.

"He is a classy guy on and off the pitch who plays beyond his years. He has had a top class football education at Celtic and is a player that I was always fond of when I was there.

"He trained and played with us last week and looked like he was here years. The players also accepted him very quickly which is shows he is a top player."

Cork City have completed the season-long loan signing of Stoke City defender Freddie Anderson, son of former England international Viv.

The 18-year-old defender, who featured for Stoke against City at Turner's Cross last July, arrives on Leeside after a spell away with the USA's Under-20 side.

Anderson said: I’m just delighted to have finally signed.

"I’m really happy to be given such a great opportunity to play for such a great and big club like Cork City."

City boss Tim Clancy said: "Freddie is a very impressive young defender, who we obviously got a close look at in last summer’s friendly. It’s another deal that we have been working on for a while, so to finally get it done is great, and it’s brilliant that we have him for the full season."
