Dundalk FC players and coaching staff have this morning received the unpaid wages they were owed by the club.
Manager Jon Daly revealed following his side's 2-1 defeat to St Patrick's Athletic seven days ago that the team, as well as off the field staff, had gone unpaid.
A statement from club owner Brian Ainscough on Monday confirmed there was a delay in the payment of wages but he assured those affected that this was a "temporary issue which will be resolved in the coming days."
The players duly received last week’s and this week’s wages on Thursday morning. It is yet to be confirmed whether all club staff have been paid.
The future of the Oriel Park outfit remains up in the air, however, after the Boston-based businessman has vealed that reports of financial difficulties were true.
The Dublin native, who only took ownership of Dundalk FC at the end of last November, said: "I am working hard to keep it going but my immediate concern now is that the club can carry on for the remainder of the season.
"I am actively seeking investment and I am exploring all possibilities about the ownership of the club to ensure that happens," continued Ainscough.
"I will continue to speak to any interested parties and I remain fully positive that we can secure the injection of cash that we need to keep us going."
Talks with a number of potential investors continue to take place but for the first-team their attention can now turn to Friday’s trip to face Waterford FC in the RSC.
The Lilywhites currently sit bottom of the League of Ireland Premier Division table with just seven matches remaining but can leapfrog neighbours Drogheda Utd – who are in FAI Cup action this weekend – with a win against Keith Long’s side.
Dundalk supporters’ group The 1903 have set up a GoFundMe in recent days with close to €16,000 raised so far which they say will go towards match day expenses and costs.
