Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to sign Paris St Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The 23-year-old Uruguay international is understood to be on the verge of joining United for €50 million with up to €10m in add-ons.

The move would mark the latest in a string of summer arrivals for boss Erik ten Hag, who has already strengthened his squad this window with the additions of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.

Following reports on Tuesday that he was travelling to Manchester for his medical ahead of the transfer, Ugarte took to X to post a teasing eyes-open emoji.

Ugarte began his career in his homeland with CA Fenix and spent two seasons with Sporting Lisbon before moving to the French capital in 2023.

He made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, helping PSG secure the title and the Coupe de France, as well as featuring eight times in the Champions League.

Ugarte also impressed at this year's Copa America, in which Uruguay finished third, and was named in CONMEBOL's Best XI for the tournament.

Cancelo spent last season on loan at Barcelona

Manchester City have agreed a deal to sell full-back Joao Cancelo to Saudi side Al Hilal.

It is understood a deal worth €25 million has been agreed between both clubs, with personal terms yet to be confirmed.

A switch to the Saudi Pro League will end Cancelo's five-year stay with City after he arrived at the club in a £60 million (€71.1m) move from Juventus in 2019.

He then enjoyed a successful spell at the Etihad Stadium, helping secure back-to-back Premier League titles with City in 2021 and 2022.

However, Cancelo spent the second-half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Bayern Munich and was loaned out to Barcelona for the entirety of last season, where he made 42 appearances across all competitions.

He represented Portugal at this year's European Championships in Germany, where his side were knocked out in the quarter-finals by France.

Cancelo has so far not featured in either of City's first two Premier League games this season, a 2-0 victory against Chelsea and a 4-1 win over Ipswich.

Chelsea have agreed the signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders from Belgian side KRC Genk.
Penders will join the Blues next summer on a contract until 2032.

Penders, a Belgium Under-19 international, only made his senior debut for Genk last month against Standard Liege, keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw.

He will remain with Genk in the Belgian top flight for the rest of the season.

Celtic have allowed Sweden defender Gustaf Lagerbielke to join Dutch side FC Twente on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old – capped twice by his country – moved to the Hoops a year ago from Elfsborg but struggled for game time in his first season, making just 10 appearances.

Lagerbielke, who is contracted to Celtic until 2028, will spend the remainder of the current campaign with Twente, who will compete in the Europa League after losing their Champions League qualifier against RB Salzburg earlier this month.
