Chelsea have agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix, according to reports, which could see midfielder Conor Gallagher move to the Spanish club.

Portugal international Felix had a six-month loan spell at Stamford Bridge from January 2023 and then spent last season with Barcelona.

Chelsea are reported to have agreed an initial £42m fee with Atletico, which would see the 24-year-old make a permanent switch on a six-year deal.

Felix was not included in the Atletico Madrid match squad for Monday night's LaLiga game at Villarreal, with a medial reported to have been set for Tuesday.

Felix’s arrival would then appear to open the door for England midfielder Gallagher to complete a move to Atletico, which stalled after Chelsea’s intended move for Samu Omorodion fell through.

Chelsea – who lost their opening Premier League match 2-0 against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday – are also reported to have received a formal offer from Napoli for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Leicester City have signed midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract.

Financial details were not disclosed by either club, but British media reported the deal was worth in excess of £20m.

The 23-year-old Skipp made 106 appearances for Spurs. He has represented England at various youth levels.

"I'm really excited to sign... I'm sure that we've got a squad capable of challenging in every game," Skipp said in a statement. "I'm really excited to see what this group can achieve."

Leicester start their Premier League campaign at home to Spurs later today (8pm).

Ipswich have announced the signing of midfielder Jens Cajuste from Napoli on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old, capped 23 times by Sweden, made 26 Serie A appearances last season after joining Napoli from French club Reims 12 months ago.

Cajuste told TownTV: "I've had great conversations with the manager and this seems like a very interesting project. It’s an ambitious club and a team that is progressing.

"I’m a player that works hard and I want to contribute in attack and defence. I want to play as much as possible and I’ll be looking to get some good tackles in."

Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali (above) could return from his worldwide ban at Nottingham Forest after the date for Newcastle's Carabao Cup second-round tie at the City Ground was confirmed.

The Magpies will head to Nottingham on Wednesday, 28 August.

Italy midfielder Tonali is serving a 10-month suspension after admitting breaching betting rules and has not played for the club he joined in a £55million switch from AC Milan in July last year since October.

Newcastle confirmed last week the 24-year-old would be available once again on 28 August following the expiry of his ban, which was imposed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for offences committed during his time in Italy.

Tonali, who scored on his debut in a 5-1 Premier League victory over Aston Villa, has made only 12 appearances for Newcastle and head coach Eddie Howe admitted on Friday he is understandably short of match fitness.

Howe said: "Physically, he’s very fit, he’s in a really good place, but he just hasn’t had the matches and the game sharpness that you can only really get from games."

Brighton have confirmed the signing of French forward Georginio Rutter from Leeds.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League outfit. Rutter, who scored eight goals and contributed 16 assists for Leeds last season, has moved for a reported club record £40million.
